How long does it take to make my cover?
All of our custom covers are made to order and go into production as soon as we receive your order and confirm the specifications. Custom covers are made within 10 business days from the date of purchase. If your cover requires follow-up from our team before being produced, timing begins once the order is finalized. If you need your cover sooner, we have a rush order option where your cover is made within 5 business days.
For CA orders, shipping is an additional 3-5 weeks.
Can I place an order if I can't find my make and model online?
Yes, of course! Every cover is custom-made to order.
If you have a basic shape, you can measure your spa and enter the exact measurements in the cover configurator. See our measuring guide for assistance.
If you have a special shape (waterfall, speakers, triangle, etc.), contact our support team for assistance.
Should I choose Vinyl or WeatherShield for my cover?
All covers come standard with marine grade vinyl that has 1500 hours UV protection. Our vinyl is available in 12 colors.
WeatherShield is a solution-dyed polyester fabric which creates a beautiful alternative to standard vinyl material from which hot tub covers have been made from for years. It is available in 4 colors.
WeatherShield is up to 25% lighter than vinyl and has a urethane coating which enhances the stability of the weaved polyester. This allows greater water resistance and minimizes any shrinkage or stretching which naturally occurs over time with vinyl.
WeatherShield fabric is highly resistant to:
- UV rays
- Water
- Mold & mildew
- Tears & abrasions
Both WeatherShield and Vinyl are mold and mildew-treated.
How do I ensure I order the right size cover?
We can often obtain measurements using the hot tub manufacturer's make and model number but backup measurements (i.e., manually measuring the tub you have) are important to ensure you order the right cover. Often a manufacturer will reuse a model name and change the specifications slightly from year to year, which may cause slight variations in the cover sizes.
For assistance taking perfect measurements, view our measuring guide.
Covers are non-returnable and non-refundable if dimensions were input incorrectly. If the dimensions are submitted accurately and there is an issue, please let us know by contacting our support team.
What does taper mean?
The taper of a cover refers to the diminishing thickness from the middle to the edge. Increasing the taper improves the runoff of snow and water, enhancing cover performance.
We offer three taper options:
- Classic: 4” to 2.5”
- Deluxe: 3” to 5”
- Supreme: 6” to 4”
How should I clean my cover?
Frequently remove debris from the top of your cover, and wipe it down once per month.
- Lay your cover on a flat surface. Rinse with a garden hose or bucket of clean water to remove debris.
- Using a soft bristle brush, scrub the cover clean with a mild solution of dishwashing liquid—about one teaspoon of soap to two gallons of water. Use a gentle circular motion of the soft bristle brush, being cautious not to let any areas of the cover dry before it can be rinsed with water. Rinse thoroughly and let air dry.
- Before replacing the cover on your spa, wipe and rinse any dirt from the bottom side of the cover. When you are ready, put the cover on the spa.
To prevent Vinyl from getting brittle and dry, we recommend using a vinyl conditioner once a month, after step 2. *Weather Shield does not require conditioner.
The inside of the zipper area should also be cleaned (at least twice a year), as this is a perfect hiding place for mildew to form over time.
- Remove foam cores from the encasement.
- Mix two gallons of water, a teaspoon of mild dishwashing soap and one cup of bleach.
- With a soft bristle brush, scrub the inside of the encasement thoroughly.
- Take a washcloth and wipe down each foam core. Rinse both well.
- Place the encasement in the sun and foam cores in the shade to dry. (Do not put foam cores in the sun - they will melt!).
- Once everything is dry, spray the cores and inside the encasement with a mildew inhibitor like Pine Sol.®. Allow all to dry completely, then reassemble.
How do I know it is time to replace my hot tub cover?
A properly maintained hot tub cover can last for several years, but there are some telltale signs that a cover isn’t working properly anymore.
- The outer vinyl/weather shield is torn, cracked, or discolored – Cracked vinyl can let debris or rainwater into your hot tub or let the cover insulation get wet.
- The cover is heavy, even with a lifter – your foam cores have started to take on water, severely reducing the effectiveness of the insulation.
- The cover is sagging in the middle – snow and rain will pool, and the foam cores have begun to warp. If the corners have started to lift, the tight seal has broken and so has the insulation power of the cover.
- The straps or buckles have broken – without working straps/buckles, your cover may blow off and you’re missing important safety features.
- The cover has an odor - water inside the vinyl cover offers a perfect breeding ground for mold and mildew in the insulation.
How long will my new cover last?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. The answer greatly depends on two things: the environment and the owner.
If you take the time to take care of the spa cover it can last well over five years. However, if you allow debris to swamp your spa cover then it could easily be ruined within a year.
I’m ready for a new cover. How should I dispose of my old one?
- Use a knife or box cutter to cut and split the middle seam of the cover into two halves.
- Locate the zipper on each half and unzip.
- Remove the hot tub cover foam inserts. Be mindful that some of the foam will be broken and it may be heavy from accumulated moisture.
- Cut the vinyl into smaller strips if necessary and throw it away unless your local recycling center or landfill accepts vinyl.
- Remove the protective plastic vapor wrap and throw it away.
- Remove the metal or aluminum channel from the foam inserts. Place these items into the metal recycling bin at your nearest landfill or recycling center so they can be broken down for another use.
- Cut the foam into more manageable pieces to take it to your nearest landfill or recycling centre.
** Always follow your local rules and regulations
Should I purchase a lifter for my cover?
A good hot tub cover can weigh from 50 to 75 pounds, so it can get hard to move on your own. That is why we recommend a hot tub cover lifter.
Benefits:
• Decrease your risks of back injuries due to pulling off heavy-weight
• Speed up the process of cleaning and treating your spa
• Keep your cover off the ground and protected from debris
• Enjoy your hot tub even more!
