When Traveling to a Far Away Pool

This winter, many Canadians will be escaping the frigid Canadian winter by heading to southern destinations. Canadians are excited when greeted with an all inclusive hotel in a tropical destination that is adorned with a beautiful pool. The water is inviting, with palm trees lining the pool’s perimeter and swim-up bars conveniently available to serve up tropical treats. With all inclusive resorts, we often order the same drinks all week that seem to pair well with sunny days and white sand beaches. If you want to be adventurous, and gracefully lounge in the infinity pool with a bright little umbrella drink in hand, we have some alternatives to the traditional Pina Colada. Here are some not-so-familiar, but tasty, tropical drinks to request:
  • Hawaiian Sea Breeze. This exotic cocktail contains a delightful mix of grapefruit and cranberry juice with a splash of vodka. After, enjoy the fresh pineapple it is garnished with.
  • Blue Hawaiian. Somewhat popular, yet under-rated. This drink is an exciting combination of Rum, pineapple juice, Blue Curacao, and Crème de Coconut. Typically garnished with a cherry and pineapple.
  • Miami Vice. Strawberry Daiquiri swirled with Pina Colada. Perfect for the scorching tropical temperatures.
  • Rum and coke fan? Beware. Often in places like Cuba and Dominican, rum is cheaper than coke. This can make for a dangerously strong concoction.
Remember that enjoying a cocktail is okay, but it is dangerous to be intoxicated while swimming. Enjoy these tropical treats responsibly!
